In 2015 tourists to WA spent a whopping nine billion dollars. The Mount Barker Tourist Bureau, our Board members and staff and volunteers at our "shop front" the Mount Barker Visitor Centre, are absolutely passionate about promoting Mount Barker to tourists. Our main goals underpinning promotion are increasing tourist awareness and making Mount Barker a sought after destination. Achieving these goals will result in increased dollars and vitality for our community, especially our supporting members.
In conjunction with a Local Government regional destination marketing initiative (see Footnote), The Mount Barker Tourist Bureau has undertaken and delivered on a number of exciting new technologies and tools to promote our region:
Footnote - Destination Marketing Initiative
2016 saw the regional destination marketing initiative undertaken by the Shire of Plantagenet (our local government authority), Shire of Denmark and City of Albany under the "Amazing South Coast" brand name, together with the tag line "worth every moment". The Mount Barker Tourist Bureau recognised the unprecedented opportunity to promote Mount Barker as the "Gateway to the Amazing South Coast", being ideally suited as a base from which tourists and visitors can explore the region. "Gateway to the Amazing South Coast" as our contributing initiative was adopted by the Mount Barker Tourist Bureau very early in the regional destination marketing development phase.
